ODOT Seeks Comments on U.S. Route 22 Bridge Removal in Harrison County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to U.S. Route 22 by removing an existing bridge over an abandoned coal haul road located just west of State Route 519 in Moorefield Township, Harrison County.
The project will replace the existing bridge with earthen fill and construct new pavement in place of the structure and approach slabs. Existing guardrail will also be removed.
U.S. 22 will be closed during construction, and a detour will be provided. Construction is anticipated for next summer. New right of way will be acquired to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by June 26, 2009.
