Safety improvement project to begin at State Route 164 and State Route 558 intersection
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, May 31, 2016) – Construction is expected to begin next Monday, June 6th, on a safety improvement project at the intersection of State Route 164 and State Route 558 between Leetonia and Lisbon in Columbiana County.
The $463,000 project will improve the existing sight distance and roadway design by reconstructing over 900 feet of SR 164 and over 400 feet of SR 558.
SR 164 will be closed to traffic between June 13th and June 27th, 2016. Then, both SR 164 and SR 558 will be closed from July 6th to the July 13th, 2016.
SR 164 traffic will be detoured on U.S. Route 30 east to SR 11 north to SR 344 east back to SR 164 south. SR 558 traffic will be detoured on SR 517 west to SR 45 north back to SR 558 east.
ODOT’s contractor for this project is R T Vernal Paving Co. Inc., from North Lima, Ohio, and the completion date is August 15, 2016.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
