Work to begin on SR 170 bridge replacement at Fredericktown
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, May 31, 2016) – Work is scheduled to begin next Monday, June 6th, to replace the State Route 170 bridge over Little Beaver Creek at Fredericktown between Calcutta and Negley in Columbiana County.
The $2.5 million project will replace the existing 1930, four-span, concrete box-beam bridge with a new, single-span, steel plate, girder structure.
Minimal impacts to traffic are expected until August 1st when SR 170 will be closed for 115 days. Traffic will be detoured on SR 154 west to SR 11 south (U.S. 30 east) back to SR 170, and reverse.
The road is expected to be reopened to traffic by November 9, 2016; however, the project’s overall completion date is May 31, 2017.
ODOT’s contractor is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio.
