U.S. Route 22 Closure at Bloomingdale Exit Delayed Until Thursday Due to Weather
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- U.S. Route 22 will be closed Thursday, June 4th, weather permitting, as part of the final work on the State Route 152 bridge replacement project over the highway at the Bloomingdale Exit in Jefferson County. The closure was originally planned for today and tomorrow to allow for the concrete pour of the bridge deck, but it's been delayed due to the weather forecast.
U.S. 22 traffic will be rerouted onto the exit ramps and back onto the highway.
SR 152 remains closed until mid-June. Northbound SR 152 traffic is being detoured east on U.S. 22 to the Broadacre Interchange and back; southbound traffic is being detoured west on U.S. 22 to the Hopedale Interchange and back.
ODOT's contractor for this $1.5 million project is Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio, and the completion date is June 30, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
