FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Work to Begin Friday on State Route 9 at County Road 29 Intersection Near Cadiz
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- Beginning Friday, June 6, 2008, State Route 9 will be one lane during daytime hours as part of the County Road 29 reconstruction project near Cadiz in Harrison County.
SR 9 traffic will be maintained with flaggers to allow for reconstruction of the roadway at its intersection with CR 29 to improve the vertical alignment of the roadway.
ODOT's contractor, Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, began work on this $3.7 million project last May to reconstruct just over two miles of the CR 29 roadway from SR 9 south of Cadiz to U.S. 22 west of the village. In addition to the construction of a more stable base, improved drainage, widening, and resurfacing on CR 29, about a quarter of a mile of SR 9 will also be reconstructed.
On Monday, July 7th, SR 9 will be closed to traffic for 14 consecutive days. Traffic will be detoured onto SR 519 east in New Athens to U.S. 250 west back to Cadiz, and reverse. CR 29 will also remain closed during this time; however, businesses located on CR 29 will continue to have access from U.S. 22.
