FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Route 9 Closure Date Changed Due to Harrison County Fair
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- Due to a conflict with the Harrison County fair, the closure date for State Route 9 has been moved from July 7th to July 14th.
As stated in an earlier release today, the roadway will be closed on Monday, July 14th, to traffic for 14 consecutive days. Traffic will be detoured onto SR 519 east in New Athens to U.S. 250 west back to Cadiz, and reverse. County Road 29 will also remain closed during this time; however, businesses located on CR 29 will continue to have access from U.S. 22.
Also as a reminder, beginning this Friday, June 6, 2008, SR 9 will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours as part of the CR 29 reconstruction project near Cadiz in Harrison County. SR 9 traffic will be maintained with flaggers to allow for reconstruction of the roadway at its intersection with CR 29 to improve the vertical alignment of the roadway.
ODOT's contractor, Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, began work on this $3.7 million project last May to reconstruct just over two miles of the CR 29 roadway from SR 9 south of Cadiz to U.S. 22 west of the village. In addition to the construction of a more stable base, improved drainage, widening, and resurfacing on CR 29, about a quarter of a mile of SR 9 will also be reconstructed.
