New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, June 3, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 152 by replacing the existing bridge over Jeremy Run located just south of State Route 7 in the village of Empire, Jefferson County.
The project will completely replace the existing concrete slab bridge with a prefabricated reinforced concrete box culvert. It will also include minimal roadway work, replacement of existing curbs and sidewalks, placement of rock channel protection, and the removal of approximately 20 feet of an existing stone wall at the inlet of the bridge on the north side of SR 152. Four trees will be removed as part of this project.
Additionally, an existing concrete slab and an existing brick structure at the outlet of the bridge will be removed as part of this project. The road will be closed during construction and a detour will be issued. Construction is anticipated for next summer. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
