State Route 7 to be restricted next week at Sammis tunnel in Stratton for lighting work
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, June 3, 2010) – State Route 7 will be restricted beginning next week for lighting work at the W.H. Sammis Plant tunnel in Stratton, Jefferson County.
FirstEnergy Corp. will be upgrading the lighting under the tunnel. This work is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
Beginning Monday, June 7th, there will be a 14-foot width restriction in the southbound lane. Then on June 21, 2010, the roadway will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane in both directions. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction throughout this work.
The estimated completion date is August 23, 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
