Traffic delays expected this week on State Route
JEFFERSON COUNTY –
Traffic delays are expected this week on State Route 7 at Rush Run and north of
Brilliant at the ongoing hillside repair projects.
Tomorrow, SR 7 traffic
will be stopped at Rush Run in 15 minute intervals between 10-11 AM while
ODOT’s contractor begins removing the catchment wall.
Then on Wednesday, June
7th, SR 7 traffic will be stopped north of Brilliant – also in 15 minute
intervals – between 8 AM and 4 PM for removal of the catchment wall.
Motorists are urged to
plan ahead and use an alternate route to avoid delays.
reopening all four lanes of SR 7 in the Rush Run area by the end of July.
Additionally, all the excavation work will be completed this fall north of
Brilliant with a final completion expected in May 2018.
The first landslide
occurred, restricting traffic along SR 7 in March 2011. Altogether, over $68
million has been invested into repairing this hillside and improving the
long-term safety for motorists along this five-mile stretch of SR 7.
