Date change for U.S. Route 22 closure west of State Route 519
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, June 9, 2010) – U.S. Route 22 will NOT be closed to traffic Monday, June 21st, for the removal of a bridge over an abandoned coal haul road just west of State Route 519 in Moorefield Township, Harrison County.
Work will begin that day to build an earthen fill beneath the structure to be removed; however, the roadway will not be closed to traffic until sometime in July.
ODOT's contractor for this $220,687 project is B.O.G. Construction Inc., from Berlin Center, Ohio, and the completion date is mid-September 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
