State Route 342 to be Closed West of Freeport
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- State Route 342 will be closed to traffic west of Freeport in Harrison County on Monday, June 29th, 2009, for a bridge repair project.
ODOT's contractor, BOG Construction Inc., from Berlin Center, Ohio, will be removing the existing bridge deck and constructing a new deck on the existing beams.
SR 342 will be closed for approximately 60 days to allow for this work. Beginning at the intersection of SR 800 and SR 342 in Freeport, traffic will be detoured north on SR 800 to SR 258 in Stillwater, then south on SR 258 back to SR 342 in West Chester, and reverse.
The completion date for this $675,000 project is October 31, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
