State Route 39 bridge in Salineville receives reduced load rating
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, June 16, 2011) – A State Route 39 bridge located in the village of Salineville, Columbiana County, will be posted for reduced loads tomorrow, Friday, June 17th, by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11.
"After a recent inspection," ODOT District 11 Bridge Engineer Waseem Khalifa, Ph.D., P.E., said "we've determined that the load carrying capacity of this structure should no longer be 100 percent legal loads due to deterioration of the superstructure. Therefore to maintain safety, we've posted it at 80 percent legal load limits for truck traffic."
A truck detour will posted. Beginning at the intersection of SR 39 and SR 524 in Mechanicstown, truck traffic will be detoured south on SR 524 to SR 164 in Bergholz, then north on SR 164 back to SR 39 in Salineville, and reverse.
A project is planned for next year to replace this bridge.
