State Route 149 to be closed this afternoon at Bellaire for east end work
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, June 21, 2010) – A section of State Route 149 at Bellaire in Belmont County will be closed to traffic this afternoon to complete the east end of the $7.3 million, 1.4 mile relocation project.
SR 149 will be closed around noon today from Klee's Crossing to Belmont Street to complete the east end of the relocation work. However, the roadway will remain open to the businesses along this stretch. Through traffic will be detoured on old SR 149 (Washington Street) and SR 147.
This work is expected to take approximately a month to complete.
ODOT's contractor for this project is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, and the overall completion date is November 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
