U.S. Route 250 closure postponed a week in Belmont County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, June 22, 2011) – The U.S. Route 250 road closure planned for next Monday, June 27th, in Belmont County to repair a landslide has been postponed a week due to the upcoming July 4th holiday and material deliveries.
U.S. 250 will be closed to traffic on Tuesday, July 5th, for 45 days just east of County Road 22 in Sunset Heights. Beginning at the intersection of U.S. 250 and SR 519 in Harrison County, traffic will be detoured west on SR 519 to SR 9 south to Interstate 70 east to U.S. 40 in Bridgeport, then east on U.S. 40 back to U.S. 250, and reverse.
ODOT's contractor, Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Co., from Powhatan Point, Ohio, will be constructing four retaining walls between CR 22 and Bridgeport as well as replacing a culvert and repairing guardrail and pavement where needed.
This project is estimated to cost $2 million, and the completion date is November 2011.
