State Route 9 Road Closure Delayed Again
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --Due to weather and utility delays, the State Route 9 road closure scheduled for Monday, July 14th, at County Road 29 (Industrial Park Road) in Harrison County has been delayed another week. The roadway will not be closed until July 21, 2008.
SR 9 will be closed to traffic July 21st for 14 consecutive days; therefore, it will be reopened by August 4th. During this time, traffic will be detoured onto SR 519 east in New Athens to U.S. 250 west back to Cadiz, and reverse. CR 29 will also remain closed; however, businesses located on CR 29 will continue to have access from U.S. 22.
ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, began work on this $3.7 million project in May 2007, to reconstruct just over two miles of the CR 29 roadway from SR 9 south of Cadiz to U.S. 22 west of the village. In addition to the construction of a more stable base, improved drainage, widening, and resurfacing on CR 29, about a quarter of a mile of SR 9 is being reconstructed.
