State Route 149 (Washington Street) in Bellaire Reduced to One Lane Due to Landslide
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --State Route 149 (Washington Street) will be reduced to one lane later today in the village of Bellaire, Belmont County due to a landslide.
The eastbound lane of SR 149 will be closed to traffic later today due to a landslide on the hill located below the village's water tank and within the project limits of the SR 149 relocation project.
Two-way traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals.
This slide will be fixed as part of the $6.3 million SR 149 relocation project underway.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
