Work to begin tomorrow for State Route 751 bridge replacement at Stone Creek
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, July 1, 2010) – Crews will begin work tomorrow for the State Route 751 bridge replacement project over Interstate 77 at Stone Creek in Tuscarawas County.
ODOT's contractor, Dennison Bridge Inc., from Dennison, Ohio, will mobilize equipment tomorrow and begin clearing and grubbing work.
Only minimal impacts to traffic are expected until Monday, July 19th, when the roadway is expected to be closed for 120 days to rebuild the bridge over I-77. Also included in this project will be the replacement of the bridge over an abandoned railroad bed into Stone Creek with a large, three-sided culvert to accommodate a bike path.
At the time of the closure, SR 751 traffic will be detoured south on I-77 to U.S. Route 36 west back to SR 751, and reverse.
The cost of this project is $2.7 million, and the completion date is June 15, 2011.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
