ODOT seeks comments on State Route 148 roadway improvements in Belmont County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, July 1, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing multiple roadway improvements to State Route 148 west of Steinersville in Belmont County.
The proposed project will realign the roadway to the north of the existing alignment and eliminate an existing landslide hazard along the northern side of SR 148, a rockfall hazard on the roadway’s existing uphill slope, and improve the overall horizontal and vertical alignment of the roadway.
Additionally, two new culverts will be added on the western end of the project. Construction is anticipated to begin next summer. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by August 1, 2010.
