Interstate 70 westbound lane restrictions expected next week in Belmont County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, July 1, 2010) – The westbound passing lane of Interstate 70 will be restricted next week to allow for the tie-in of temporary pavement in preparation for a traffic switch later this month on the five-mile, $23 million major upgrade project in Belmont County.
The westbound passing lane will be closed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for short distances on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (July 6-8) to allow for this work, stretching 2.5 miles on each side of Exit 208.
The eastbound lanes will be affected by this work.
ODOT's contractor for this project is Kokosing Construction Company, from Columbus, Ohio, and the completion date is October 31, 2011.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
