State Route 39 Resurfacing in New Philadelphia Pushed Back One Week Due to Holiday Weekend
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- Due to the higher traffic volumes expected this extended 4th of July holiday weekend, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 has decided to push back the start date of the State Route 39 (West High Avenue) resurfacing project in the city of New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County, one week.
ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Dick Bible, P.E. said, "To minimize the inconvenience and delays caused by this work, the contractor will only work at night between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday. We did not want them to start work this Sunday evening due to the holiday weekend." Therefore, work will begin Sunday, July 13, 2008.
Less than a half mile of SR 39 (West High Avenue) will be resurfaced from the railroad tracks to Seventh Street.
ODOT’s contractor for this $114,608 project is Superior Paving & Materials Inc., from North Canton, Ohio, and the completion date is July 31, 2008.
