U.S. Route 40 to be closed to traffic on Blaine Hill next week for bridge repairs
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, July 6, 2010) – U.S. Route 40 will be closed to traffic next Monday, July 12th, on Blaine Hill for repairs to the historic Blaine Hill Viaduct bridge in Belmont County.
U.S. 40 will be closed for 40 days, and traffic will be detoured east on Interstate 70 to the U.S. 40/Marion Street Interchange, then west on U.S 40 , and reverse.
ODOT's contractor for this $2.1 million project is Suburban Maintenance & Construction Inc., from North Royalton, Ohio, and the overall completion date is mid-November.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
