Work to Begin Next Week on State Route 149 Relocation Project in Bellaire
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will begin work next Monday, July 14th, to relocate approximately 1.4 miles of State Route 149 from 26th Street near the State Route 7 Interchange to just west of the village of Bellaire's corporation limits in Belmont County.
The first items of work include: mobilization of equipment, clearing and grubbing, the erection of erosion control, and construction of a temporary road from the cul-de-sac on Commerce Park Drive to the public ball fields. Additionally, 26th Street will remain open as a temporary, one-way road to Washington Street.
Since the relocated roadway will be constructed mostly on the abandoned railroad bed that runs parallel to existing SR 149, construction will have minimal impacts to traffic. However, Township Road 476 (Klee's Crossing) is expected to be closed for about two weeks this fall for construction of a culvert.
ODOT’s contractor for this $5.7 million project is Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, and the completion date is June 20, 2010.
