Rock Barrier Construction to Begin Next Week Along Belmont and Jefferson County Highways
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will begin work next Monday, July 14th, to construct rock barrier along the shoulder of four-lane highways in Belmont and Jefferson counties.
New rock barrier will be installed along Interstate 470 in Belmont County from the County Road 214 overpass to State Route 7, and along SR 7 between Dilles Bottom and Powhatan Point. Additionally, about a half mile of barrier will be installed along U.S. Route 22 just west of Wintersville in Jefferson County.
Traffic will be maintained on all three routes during construction. However, there will be daytime lane closures on SR 7 and I-470 in Belmont County. And, the east and westbound travel lanes of U.S. 22 will be closed throughout the duration of the work, but the passing lanes will remain open.
ODOT’s contractor for this $1.87 million project is Kokosing Construction Company Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, and the completion date is March 31, 2009.
