State Route 147 to be closed next Friday west of Bethesda
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, July 16, 2015) – State Route 147 will be closed next Friday, July 24th, between Bethesda and Barnesville in Belmont County for the $935,683 bridge removal project that began in May.
The 30-day road closure is necessary for ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, to demo the existing structure and place embankment material. The road is scheduled to be reopened to traffic on August 24, 2015, just before school resumes.
ODOT has worked with local emergency management officials to ensure their thru access as much as possible and minimize impacts and delays during this closure.
Traffic will be detoured on SR 149, Interstate 70, and SR 800.
The completion date is May 31, 2016, to allow for settlement. However, all work is expected to be completed in August 2015.
