State Route 170 to be closed next week for bridge replacement at Fredericktown
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, July 18, 2016) – State Route 170 will be closed next Monday, July 25th, for a bridge replacement over Little Beaver Creek at Fredericktown in Columbiana County.
The road will be closed for 115 days, and traffic will be detoured on SR 154 west to SR 11 south (U.S. 30 east) back to SR 170, and reverse.
Work began on the $2.5 million project, replacing the existing 1930, four-span, concrete box-beam bridge with a new, single-span, steel plate, girder structure, between Calcutta and Negley in June.
The road is expected to be reopened to traffic by mid-November; however, the project’s overall completion date is May 31, 2017.
ODOT’s contractor is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
