State Route 751 closed today for bridge replacement at Stone Creek
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, July 19, 2010) – State Route 751 was closed to traffic this morning for a bridge replacement project over Interstate 77 at Stone Creek in Tuscarawas County.
SR 751 will be closed to traffic for about 120 days to rebuild the bridge over I-77. Beginning at the ramp terminals, SR 751 eastbound traffic will be detoured south on I-77 to U.S. Route 36. Westbound traffic will be detoured north to the U.S. 250 Interchange.
Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles throughout this road closure.
Also included in this project will be the replacement of the bridge over an abandoned railroad bed into Stone Creek with a large, three-sided culvert to accommodate a bike path.
ODOT's contractor for this $2.7 million project is Dennison Bridge Inc., from Dennison, Ohio, and the completion date is June 15, 2011.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
