ODOT seeks comments on local bridge replacement projects in Belmont County
Projects Funded by Ohio’s Bridge Partnership Program
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, July 21, 2014) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 and the Belmont County Engineer are seeking comments on the replacement of 10 existing bridges on various local routes in Belmont County as part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program.
The Program, investing $120 million over the next three years throughout the state to repair and replace more than 200 county and city-owned bridges, was made available by Ohio’s successful efforts to overhaul highway funding, including reduced overhead costs and improved efficiencies at ODOT. ODOT worked with local officials to identify bridges for repair or replacement. Bridges were selected based on a variety of factors, including safety and importance to local job creation.
Bridge replacements are proposed at the following locations in Belmont County:
- Willow Grove Rd. (CR 4) bridge over a Branch of McMahon Creek, 2.5 miles west of Neffs
- Cumberland Run Rd. (TR 289) bridge over Cumberland Run, 2 miles south of Glencoe
- Trough Run Rd. (TR 304) bridge over Trough Run, 2 miles east of Bellaire
- Sloan Run Rd. (TR 426) bridge over Sloan Run just north of Morgan Hill Rd.
- Mt. Hope Rd. (CR 72) bridge over a Branch of Wheeling Creek less than a mile west of Lafferty
- Mt. Hoep Rd. (CR 72) bridge over Wheeling Creek just west of Lafferty
- Deep Run Rd. (CR 2) bridge over Deep Run just east of Nixon Run Rd. (CR 16)
- Colerain-Martins Ferry Rd. (CR 4) bridge over Glenns Run on the east side of Colerain
- Crozier Ridge Rd. (TR 291) bridge over Pipe Creek on the west side of Businessburg
- Maynard Hill Rd. (TR 454) bridge over Sloans Run in Maynard
Traffic will be detoured during portions of construction anticipated for 2015 and 2016, and minor new right of way will be required at some locations to complete the projects.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of these proposed projects. Environmental impacts include those associated with historical archeological or architectural resources, ecological resources, hazardous materials, and/or any general concerns regarding the projects.
