New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, July 22, 2010) – Work will begin next week to resurface just over a mile of State Route 39 in the city of New Philadelphia.
SR 39 will be resurfaced from the railroad crossing on West High Avenue to the city's west corporation line located west of the Interstate 77 Interchange near the Park-N-Ride.
Signs are expected to be installed early next week, but physical work won't begin until Thursday night, July 29th. All work will take place between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. to minimize traffic delays.
ODOT's contractor for this $304,124 project is The Shelly Company, from Thornville, Ohio, and the completion date is August 31, 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
