ODOT Seeks Comments on Improvements to Bridges in Tuscarawas and Columbiana Counties
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to eight bridges in Tuscarawas County and two bridges in Columbiana County.
The Tuscarawas County bridges are located on State Routes 258, 39, 516, U.S. Route 250, and Interstate 77. In Columbiana County, the bridges are located on SR 14 and SR 164.
The proposed project will encase the existing steel pipe piers with reinforced concrete and protect them from future deterioration by placing rock channel protection along the base of the new encasements.
Traffic will be maintained during construction, which is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2009. No new right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by August 25, 2008.
