State Route 147 to be closed today between Baileys Mills and Barnesville for landslide repairs
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, August 8, 2011) – State Route 147 will be closed today for 14 days between Baileys Mills and Barnesville in Belmont County for landslide repairs, caused by the excessive rains this spring.
Beginning at the intersection of SR 147 and SR 800, traffic will be detoured north on SR 800 to Interstate 70 west to SR 513 south to SR 265 east back to SR 147, and reverse.
ODOT's contractor is Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Co., from Powhatan Point, Ohio. The cost of the project is estimated at $444,000 and is being funded by federal emergency monies due to the major rainfall events in March and April. Officials anticipate an overall completion date of September 30, 2011.
