Willow Grove Road closes in Belmont County for bridge replacement project
Funded by Ohio’s Bridge Partnership Program
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, August 8, 2016) – Willow Grove Road (County Road 4) was closed today for 50 days in Belmont County for a bridge replacement west of Neffs as part of a $1.63 million project made possible by Gov. John R. Kasich’s Ohio Bridge Partnership Program.
Beginning at the intersection of CR 4 and SR 149 in Neffs, traffic is being detoured west on SR 149 to SR 9 in Warnock, then north on SR 9 to the intersection of SR 9 and High Street in St. Clairsville, and reverse.
Three other Belmont County bridges were included in this project that began in March:
- Buzz Ayers Road (TR 426) bridge over Sloan Run just north of Morgan Hill Road
- Trough Run Road (TR 304) bridge over Trough Run, east of Bellaire
- Cumberland Run Road (TR 289) bridge over Cumberland Run, south of Glencoe
The Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, developed by ODOT in late 2013, provides resources to assist counties and cities with the maintenance of bridges. Altogether, about $120 million has been invested throughout the state to repair and replace more than 200 county and city-owned bridges.
ODOT’s contractor is Buds Inc., from Nashport, Ohio. All work is expected to be completed by the end of September 2016.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
