Route 7 delays likely next Wednesday near Rush Run
JEFFERSON COUNTY – Next Wednesday,
August 16th, southbound State Route 7 traffic will be returned to
its original travel lane, eliminating the crossover for the work zone at Rush
During this transition, there will be
intermittent delays. Motorists are urged to plan ahead or use an alternate
route to avoid delays.
The road will remain one lane in each
direction both north and southbound during the remainder of the construction.
Excavation was completed on this $16
million slope repair project in early June, but since this work zone was in
place for such an extended period of time, additional construction was required
to restore the pavement to an acceptable condition, including paving and construction
of a rock catchment wall.
All work should be completed in this
area by September 30, 2017, restoring all four lanes of traffic. However, SR 7 will remain reduced to one lane in each direction north of
Brilliant until that project is completed next year.
landslide occurred, restricting traffic along SR 7 in March 2011. Altogether,
over $68 million has been invested into repairing this hillside and improving
the long-term safety for motorists along this five-mile stretch of SR 7.
