Power Outage Expected Next Tuesday in Strasburg Due to Culvert Replacement
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --A two-hour power outage is expected next Tuesday morning, August 19th, at the north end of Strasburg, Tuscarawas County, due to work associated with a culvert replacement located under U.S. Route 250 just north of 12th Street.
American Electric Power (AEP) will turn off service to affected residents at 9 a.m. to allow ODOT's contractor time to safely set part of the culvert under the power lines.
Additionally as a reminder, U.S. 250 will be closed to traffic next Friday, August 22nd at 6 p.m. until 12 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, for the remainder of the replacement work. Traffic will be detoured north on SR 21 to U.S. 30 in Massillon, then east on U.S. 30 to Interstate 77 south in Canton back to U.S. 250, and reverse.
ODOT’s contractor for this $175,656 project is Stanley Miller Construction Company, from East Sparta, Ohio, and the completion date for all work is October 31, 2008.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
