ODOT seeks comments on a State Route 9 bridge replacement project
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, August 15, 2013) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is seeking comments on a proposed bridge replacement project (PID 88942) located on State Route 9 over McMahon Creek in the village of Warnock, Belmont County.
The existing deteriorated structure is a two span, concrete box-beam bridge built in 1931. The project will replace the bridge with a new single span, box-beam bridge on the existing alignment. In addition, the structure will be widened four feet to provide additional lateral clearance, and the existing center pier will be removed from McMahon Creek.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2015. Traffic will be maintained, using part-width construction techniques. Minor new right of way will be required to complete the project. No residential or business relocations will be required.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas E. Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by September 15, 2013.
