SR 517 to be closed next week for railroad crossing repairs
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, August 22, 2016) – State Route 517 will be closed next week between Fairfield School Rd. and State Route 558 near East Fairfield in Columbiana County for railroad crossing repairs by Rail Works on the Youngstown Southeastern Railroad.
Beginning at the intersection of SR 45 and SR 164/SR 517, traffic will be detoured south on SR 45 to US 30/SR 45/SR 154, then east on US 30/SR 45/SR 154 to SR 154 east to SR 7 north to SR 558 west back to SR 517, and reverse.
This work is expected to be completed and the reopened in five days.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
