Westbound U.S. Route 22 On-Ramp at Cadiz to Close Next Week for Bridge Removal
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The westbound U.S. Route 22 on-ramp from State Route 9 at Cadiz in Harrison County will be closed to traffic next Wednesday, September 9th, as part of the $910,000 project to remove three bridges no longer needed, saving the state millions of dollars over the next 35 years.
ODOT's contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, began work in early July to construct the fill needed to replace the structures.
This on-ramp will closed for a minimum of 42 days. Beginning at the intersection of the on-ramp and SR 9, traffic will be detoured south on SR 9 to County Road 29 (Industrial Park Road), then north on CR 29 to U.S. 22 east back to U.S. 250, and reverse.
The completion date for this project is mid-November 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
