ODOT and Washingtonville to hold Public Meeting on Proposed Intersection Improvements
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, September 7, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 and the village of Washingtonville are proposing improvements to the intersection of East Street and Washingtonville Street with State Route 14 in Washingtonville, Columbiana County.
The current intersection is configured with an offset alignment and is not signalized. Various engineering studies have been completed to determine the extent of the problems at the intersection, and a wide-range of alternatives has been considered to improve its operation.
ODOT and Washingtonville will host a public meeting to discuss the various alternatives considered and present the preferred alternative. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format; therefore, no formal presentation will be made. The public is invited to view exhibits of the proposed design and discuss the project with representatives from ODOT and the village as well as provide feedback on the proposed improvements.
Anyone interested in this project is encouraged to attend. ODOT and the village continue to seek comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project. After evaluating the comments gathered at this meeting, ODOT will proceed with final design of the preferred alternative.
Comment forms will be available to complete at the meeting or to be mailed at a later time to ODOT District 11, ATTN: Thomas E. Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. In order to proceed with the project in a timely manner, all comments must be submitted by October 21, 2010.
