ODOT Seeks Comments on State Route 519 Bridge Replacement in Harrison County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 519 by replacing an existing bridge located just east of U.S. Route 22 in Harrison County and over an abandoned coal haul road in the designated Jockey Hollow Wildlife Area.
The project will replace the existing bridge with earthen fill and construct new pavement in place of the structure and approach slabs. Additionally, guardrail will be removed.
SR 519 will be closed during construction, and a detour will be issued. Construction is anticipated for the summer of 2011. New right of way will be acquired to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by October 8, 2009.
