Night work resumes Sunday on I-70 paving project near Mall Road
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Friday, September 09, 2016) – Starting this Sunday night, September 11th, Interstate 70 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. west of Interstate 470 for paving. Westbound lanes will be reduced to two lanes.
Work will begin at County Road 214 near Exit 220 and end between Exits 216 and 218.
This is part of the ongoing, $13 million project to upgrade 4 ½ miles of I-70 in Belmont County.
Weather permitting, nightly lane closures are expected through September 29th.
This intermediate course of pavement will conclude work this year; the final course of asphalt will be placed next spring.
Work began on this project – that stretches from almost a mile west of Mall Rd. to nearly four miles east of Mall Rd. – in April. Construction includes pavement repairs, resurfacing, median barrier replacement, new guardrail, and new lighting. The project also includes bridge repairs on the I-70 bridges over Mall Rd.
ODOT’s contractor is Lash Paving Inc., from Colerain, Ohio, and the completion date is October 15, 2017.
