ODOT Seeks Comments on State Route 520 Bridge Replacement in Holmes County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 520 in Holmes County by replacing an existing bridge over an Unnamed Tributary to Black Creek located almost four miles west of U.S. Route 62.
The proposed project will completely replace the existing single span reinforced concrete slab bridge on concrete abutments with a 14’ x 4’ prefabricated reinforced concrete box. The project will also include the construction of headwalls, wingwalls, some pavement, and new guardrail.
The road will be closed during construction, which is anticipated for next summer, and a detour will be provided. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by October 15, 2009.
