Northbound SR 7 to be Restricted Monday North of Steubenville for Landslide Repairs
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --Beginning Monday, September 29, 2008, State Route 7 northbound in Jefferson County will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane about two miles north of Steubenville for a landslide repair project.
The northbound travel lane and shoulder will be closed to traffic. Motorists will be utilizing the passing lane to travel through the work zone. However, southbound lanes will not be affected.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will be improving approximately 550 feet of SR 7 by stabilizing this landslide. Cast-in-place concrete grade beams will be anchored to rock to stabilize the roadway embankment.
ODOT’s contractor for this $1.86 million project is the A P O'Horo Company, from Youngstown, Ohio, and the completion date is June 30, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
