Blasting to begin this week above State Route 7 near Yellow Creek for slope stabilization project
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, September 26, 2011) – Blasting work is set to begin later this week as part of the State Route 7 hillside stabilization project above State Route 7 near Yellow Creek in Saline Township, Jefferson County.
Rockfall closed all four lanes of SR 7 at this location in March.
Blasting could occur one to two times a day and may cause traffic delays of 15 minutes at a time. Motorists are urged to plan ahead and use an alternate route to avoid potential delays. Changeable message boards will be used to update motorists daily on the contractor’s blasting schedule.
One lane of traffic will continue to be maintained in each direction on the northbound lanes during this construction.
ODOT’s contractor for this $9 million project is Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio. Work is expected to be completed in December 2011.
