ODOT seeks comments on State Route 164 culvert replacement project
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, September 30, 2013) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is seeking comments on a proposed State Route 164 culvert replacement project (PID 86869) over a tributary of West Fork of Little Beaver Creek, located approximately six miles south of Lisbon and just east of the SR 518 intersection in Wayne Township, Columbiana County.
This project will replace the existing, deficient box culvert with a pre-cast, four-sided concrete box culvert. In addition, minimal approach work along SR 164 will be performed, including: embankment reconstruction and guardrail. Rock channel protection will be placed at the outlet end of the new culvert to prevent erosion.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2015. Traffic will be detoured during construction. Minimal right of way will be required, but no residential or business relocations will be required.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas E. Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by October 30, 2013.
