Work to begin on State Route 800 bike lanes for Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, October 11, 2016) – Work is scheduled to begin next Monday, October 17th, to construct bike lanes along State Route 800 for the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail at the intersection of State Route 212 in Tuscarawas County east of Zoar.
Two-way traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane with temporary traffic signals.
Work will include paving the shoulders, striping and signing for the bike lanes, as well as highway lighting at the intersection.
ODOT’s contractor for this $366,000 project is Central-Allied Enterprises Inc., from Canton, Ohio, and the completion date is November 29, 2016.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
