ODOT seeks comments on State Route 644 bridge replacement project in Columbiana County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, October 13, 2011) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing a bridge replacement project on State Route 644 about two miles east of Kensington in Columbiana County.
The proposed project will replace the existing slab bridge built in 1902 and located over an unnamed tributary to Brush Creek with a precast concrete box culvert. The project will require minimal approach work and minor new right of way acquisition.
Construction is anticipated for the spring of 2013. Traffic will be maintained during the majority of construction, utilizing part-width techniques. However, SR 644 may be detoured for periods not exceeding 14 days. Notice of detour signs will be posted at least two weeks in advance of any scheduled road closure.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts could include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas E. Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by November 14, 2011.
