ODOT to host Open House at new Holmes County maintenance facility
Public invited to tour new facility and grounds ready for 2010-2011 Snow and Ice Season
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, October 14, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will host an Open House to showcase its brand-new, $4.2 million investment in Holmes County at its maintenance facility located on U.S. Route 62/State Route 83 at the south end of Millersburg.
Construction began in June 2009 to replace the former 53-year old garage, and employees took residence in late August of this year.
ODOT officials will be on hand to give tours of the facility and grounds and describe the functions of the garage and its working areas all equipped and ready for the 2010-2011 Snow and Ice Season.

The new facility – totaling 22,500 square feet – now inside the village of Millersburg’s corporation limits is also connected to both village water and sewer and includes office space for the county’s administrative staff and construction field personnel as well as a new truck wash bay, a welding bay, a truck lift and overhead crane system, and inside parking for 14 dump trucks. Also included in the new complex is a 3,500 ton salt storage facility and a 500 ton salt/grit mixing building.
Additionally, the innovative facility utilizes a state of the art Facilities Management System – capable of integrating multiple building functions, such as equipment supervision and control, alarm management, fire management, information management, historical data and archiving, and most importantly, energy management, into one computer-controlled system.
