ODOT to hold Public Involvement Meeting on Proposed Interchange Improvements
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, October 18, 2011) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to the Interstate 70/U.S. Route 40/State Route 331 Interchange in Richland Township, Belmont County, Ohio.
The current interchange and surrounding roadways have numerous safety and functional deficiencies associated with the existing interchange configuration. Over the past year, ODOT has met with project stakeholders and members of the public to review conceptual design alternatives developed for improvements to the interchange. The feedback solicited from the public was used by the Project Management Team to refine the concepts into feasible designs and to identify a Preferred Alternative.
ODOT will host a public involvement meeting to discuss the selected Preferred Alternative design for the I-70/US-40/SR-331 Interchange. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format with an open microphone question and answer session. The public is invited to view exhibits of the proposed Preferred Alternative design and ask the Project Management Team questions relevant to the project. Persons attending the meeting who require special assistance or accommodations should contact the ODOT representative below prior to November 1st, so arrangements can be made to accommodate any special need requirements.
Anyone interested in this project is encouraged to attend. ODOT continues to seek comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project. ODOT will consider questions and comments received from the public as they move forward into detailed design of the Preferred Alternative.
Comment forms will be available for the public to complete at the meeting, or they can be mailed at a later time to ODOT District 11, ATTN: Christopher J. Varcolla, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. In order to proceed with the project in a timely manner, all comments must be submitted by November 16, 2011.
