County Road 29 (Industrial Park Road) Reconstruction Near Cadiz Completed
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 performed the final inspection today on the County Road 29 (Industrial Park Road) reconstruction project near Cadiz in Harrison County.
ODOT's contractor, Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, began work in May 2007, to reconstruct over two miles of CR 29 from State Route 9 south of Cadiz to U.S. Route 22 west of the village. Work included construction of a more stable base, improved drainage, widening and resurfacing. Additionally, less than a quarter of a mile of SR 9 was reconstructed at its intersection with CR 29 to improve the vertical alignment of the roadway.
ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Dick Bible, P.E. said, "This $3.7 million project has improved the efficiency of the transportation system in Harrison County. Reconstructing this road has provided a viable bypass of the village from U.S. 22 and SR 9, thus avoiding several 90-degree turns and stop and start conditions on the existing two lane roads through the business and residential areas of Cadiz." The project additionally reduced the need for costly future investments in the county's infrastructure by totally rebuilding this deficiently designed, deteriorated roadway.
