ODOT Seeks Comments on Proposed State Route 149 Work in Belmont County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 149 just west of Glencoe in Belmont County.
The proposed project will repair a landslide located approximately one mile south of the Township Road 722 intersection by installing around 532 feet of steel H-pile retaining wall encased in concrete. Approximately 600 feet of pavement will be replaced as well as guardrail. Additionally, three culverts will be replaced and tied into a closed drainage system (storm sewer).
The road will be closed during construction, and a detour will be provided. Construction is anticipated to begin in the winter of 2010. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by December 4, 2009.
