State Route 7 to be Restricted Next Week in Bellaire for Filming of "Unstoppable"
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- State Route 7 will be restricted during daylight hours, beginning Monday, November 9th, between 26th and 48th Streets in the village of Bellaire, Belmont County, for filming of the major motion picture "Unstoppable."
SR 7 traffic will be stopped in 15 minute increments to allow for filming. Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic control.
SR 7 is likely to experience continuous traffic disruptions throughout the daytime hours; therefore, motorists are urged to use alternate routes to avoid delays during these times.
According to James Mahathey, the movie's location manager for 20th Century Fox, filming in the Bellaire area should be completed by Friday, November 13th.
"Unstoppable" stars Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, who are trying to stop a runaway train filled with toxic chemicals that is on a collision course with a town. Scenes filmed in Bellaire will include the Stone Bridge and railroad tracks. The train will come from West Virginia, across the Ohio River, into Bellaire, and proceed north. Three helicopters will also be used during the filming in Bellaire.
Scenes will also be filmed from SR 7 in the city of Martins Ferry the week of November 16th.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
